This past Wednesday me, my wife and five of our volunteers took 33 students to a local theme park for an annual event we lovingly refer to as “Newbies’ Night”. Newbies’ Night is like initiation-night meets celebrating-living-through-the-school-year meets celebrating-the-graduates-who-are-getting-ready-to-move-on.
Many of the “Newbies” won’t actually start attending youth until the end of the summer, but this event gives them a chance to slowly immerse themselves in the youth group. It gives them a taste and then a couple of months to get their minds ready for the shift.
